We are pleased to invite you to CreArte's second event at Eataly!

CreArte have teamed up with Eataly and Succede Solo a Bologna to feed the people and fund local projects in Bologna.

At each dinner, attendees make a donation for a meal and get an opportunity to vote for their favorite project proposal. At the end of the night, the project that gathers the most votes is awarded the grant comprised of the donations collected that night. The project proposals aim to benefit the city of Bologna, and can range from visual art projects, to social entrepreneurship to education and more. These dinners present an opportunity to converse with fellow creative minded people, share resources, enjoy art and stimulate discussion about innovative projects in Bologna.

Mandateci un email a creartebologna@gmail.com, con il nome del progetto come intestazione. Nell’e-mail assicuratevi di aver inserito i seguenti dettagli:

• Nome del progetto;

• Un breve riassunto, di almeno 300 parole, che descriva la vostra idea e come la città di Bologna può beneficiarne.

• Un piccolo Business Plan, come intendete di usare i soldi se il vostro progetto vince i fondi raccolti.

• La durata richiesta per portare a termine il vostro progetto.

È possibile aggiungere foto/video inerenti alla vostra proposta.

Il numero massimo di progetti, durante ogni cena, sarà pari a cinque. La durata dell’esposizione durante la cena sarà di circa 10 minuti.

In bocca al lupo!

CreArte met up with Emilia Paolicelli, one of the creators and pair of hands behind the work of Re-find, on June 7th at her studio, Granata, a co-working space in the centre of Bologna. Originally from Puglia, in the south of Italy, Emilia has lived in Bologna for over 10 years and here is where Re-find was born. The idea of using unused materials first started in 2011 with her friend and work partner, Rosaria, where they would take old pieces of furniture, usually found on the streets, Via Pratello proving to be very fruitful and then they would transform them to a new state. The only problem with furniture is that they were too big, especially for storage and transportation, therefore Emilia and Rosaria decided to go another route and experiment with smaller objects. Re-find began to make accessories and pieces of jewellery, using unused materials such as bottle caps and pieces of leather.
Present day, the pair have moved their work to a new studio at Granata, an affordable and creative space with plenty of storage. Re-find now concentrates on the creation of beautiful and unique bags, each one made by hand and completely made of coffee packets. Each shopping bag takes around 3 to 4 hours to finish, and a small bag would use up around 10 coffee packets. At the moment, they collaborate with 12 bars where they collect coffee packets on a weekly basis. These new designs are not only special in their design, but they have a great social outcome on the city, with less rubbish accumulating the streets of Bologna.

How do Re-find plan to use the microgrant from CreArte’s event?

CreArte’s first aperitivo successfully raised 447.12€ on May 29th 2016, which was awarded to Re-find, having won with 26 votes. Emilia and Rosaria have already decided that the money will go towards paying for the entrance fee to participate in Open Design Italia (http://opendesignitalia.net) on the weekend of 10th-12th June 2016. The cost to participate is 490€, therefore with the help of all those who attended CreArte’s event, Re-find were able to take part in this huge design fair and open their designs to a much larger audience.

Future plans:

Attending the Open Design Italia is a very important occasion for Re-find as they aim to increase their production, therefore resulting in more recycling and less coffee packets thrown into the bin.

We have the privilege of hosting our first CreArte dinner at the artist residency of Antonello Ghezzi in the Palazzina Liberty in Giardini Margherita on Sunday May 29th, 2016. 

Remember that everyone is invited to participate! For a donation of 10 euros, you get a meal and the opportunity to vote for your favorite project proposal at the end of the night! 

For artists and entrepeneurs- the deadline to submit your project proposal is on May 22nd, 2016. Make sure to check the "Call for Proposals" for details before submitting your application.
